What is E-E-A-T?
Last updated:
E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness, the criteria by which Google, and increasingly AI systems, judge whether a source is worth citing.
The four letters are not a ranking shortcut but a question: does the page show that the text comes from someone who has lived the topic, understands it, is known for it and can be trusted? In practice: named authors with a role, sources with a date, an imprint, consistent statements.
For AI answers E-E-A-T counts double: whoever is recognised as a trustworthy entity is more likely to be cited, and the attribution is kept.
Why it matters for the mid-market
E-E-A-T is where mid-market companies beat large vendors: a named expert with twenty years of industry practice is more credible to a language model than an anonymous content farm. Making it visible means: author, role, evidence.
