AI flat rate for companies: what the term actually covers, what the three models cost and when each pays off

The short answer first: "AI flat rate" is not one product but three different things sold under one label. A training subscription from 79 euros a month, a platform seat of 10 to 99 euros per user with a usage quota, or a rare true flat fee with unlimited users. The word hides the billing unit, and the billing unit decides whether the offer scales with your headcount, your token volume or not at all.

This piece is written for the managing director who typed "KI-Flatrate" into a search box hoping for one predictable number. The market answer is more interesting than the hope, and it is verifiable against the providers' own price pages.

Three models wearing the same name

ModelExample, price read todayBilling unit
Training subscriptionKI Trainingsakademie: €99/mo Starter, €79 on annual plan; €189 and €379 for higher tiersPer subscription, fixed
Platform seat with quotaKauz aiWorkplace: €10 / €22 / €99 per user with 500 to 12,000 AI points and overagePer user plus usage
Tiered seat, all featuresAdacor KI-Workplace: €18 per user, cumulatively down to €10 from 201 users, same feature set for everyonePer user, degressive
True flat feeAdacor public-sector tariff: €149/month per instance, unlimited users, 25 million tokens includedPer company, fixed

Only the last row is a flat rate in the literal sense, and it exists for municipalities and public bodies, not as the default for private companies. Everything else scales with people or with consumption, exactly the property the word "flat rate" is supposed to remove.

Why the training subscription dominates the label

The training variant exists because of a legal hook. Article 4 of the AI Act obliges providers and deployers to ensure a sufficient level of AI literacy in their staff, in force since February 2025. A monthly subscription of live sessions, prompt libraries and documentation is the cheapest way to keep that duty covered continuously, which is why providers price it as "Flatrate" and why it ranks for the term. The KI Trainingsakademie sells exactly that: two to four live sessions per month, 500 to 2,000 prompts and templates, a compendium from the Professional tier, priced at 99, 189 or 379 euros monthly with roughly 20 percent off on annual billing.

Kauz represents the other pole. Its aiWorkplace is a platform, not a course: every seat includes the same functions, but each carries a monthly quota of AI points, and exceeding it triggers usage billing. The model is honest about what "flat" means there: flat feature access, metered consumption. Whether that beats a direct seat at ChatGPT, Copilot or Claude depends on whether the team needs the vendor's models or the wrapper's governance, audit log and EU hosting.

Which model fits which company

Decide by what you are actually buying. If the question is "how do we keep people competent", the answer is the training subscription, and the price question is whether 79 to 299 euros a month outperform a quarterly internal session. If the question is "how do we give everyone the tools", the answer is seat pricing, and the honest comparison line is per active user per month, not the marketing label. The true flat fee only exists where vendors treat the whole organisation as one seat, which today means the public sector or negotiated enterprise contracts.

One practical frame for the budget: treat the training subscription as an education line, the seats as a licence line and the rollout as a project line in the digital budget calculator. A company with 30 active users should expect roughly 300 to 700 euros a month in tooling at today's seat prices plus a four-figure annual training budget. The single flat number you were searching for does not exist because the usage behind it is not flat.

The honest remainder

Three qualifications. First, all prices were read on the providers' own pages today; packages change quarterly and the AI market reprices faster than any other software category. Second, a flat rate answers cost anxiety, not capability: the companies that get value are the ones with a working process, which is a rollout question, not a pricing one. Third, watch the points and token ceilings inside any offer: "flat" with a quota is usage-based with friendlier branding, and the overage tariff is the number worth reading twice.

Whoever takes one sentence from this piece: there is no AI flat rate, there are three different contracts wearing its name, and the only question that matters is whether you pay per head, per token or per month fixed.

Frequently asked questions about AI flat rates

Does a true AI flat rate for companies exist?

Rarely. A true flat rate is a fixed monthly price regardless of headcount and consumption. The clearest example on the market is the public-sector tariff of the Adacor KI-Workplace: 149 euros per month per instance, unlimited users, 25 million tokens included. Most offers calling themselves flat rate are in fact seat prices or training subscriptions with a fixed monthly price per person.

What does an AI training flat rate cost?

At the KI Trainingsakademie the model starts at 99 euros a month for the Starter package with two live sessions and over 500 prompts, 79 euros on the annual plan. Professional sits at 189 or 149 euros, Enterprise at 379 or 299 euros a month. Included are live sessions, a prompt library, templates and, from Professional upward, an AI compendium. The providers’ hook is the AI literacy duty in Article 4 of the AI Act.

Is a seat price the same as a flat rate?

No. A seat price scales with headcount and is therefore the opposite of a flat fee. The Kauz aiWorkplace, for example, costs 10 euros per user in the Light seat, 22 euros in Standard and 99 euros in Power, each with a monthly quota of AI points and usage-based overage beyond it. That is a tiered usage model, not a fixed price.

When does a training subscription beat a one-off course?

When the company wants lasting adoption rather than a one-time event. The providers’ case is straightforward: a single workshop fades within weeks while models and tools change monthly. Anyone who only needs to satisfy the Article 4 documentation duty is cheaper off with one baseline course; anyone building real usage needs a continuous format, whether flat rate or internal.

What is the honest total for a mid-market company?

Three line items, not one: tool licences per active user, training per year and a one-off implementation with process work. A company with 30 active AI users realistically pays 300 to 700 euros a month for tools under seat models, plus a four-figure annual training budget. Anyone comparing only the flat-rate offer is comparing a third of the bill.

Sources, status and note: All prices were read on the providers' own pages, retrieved on 5 October 2026: the KI Trainingsakademie flat-rate page for the training tiers at 79 to 379 euros a month, the Kauz pricing page for the aiWorkplace seats at 10, 22 and 99 euros with AI-point quotas and overage, and the Adacor price list for the cumulative 18-to-10-euro staffel and the 149-euro public-sector flat fee with 25 million tokens included. Statutory AI-literacy duty: Article 4 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689. Packages change quarterly; read the live price list before signing.
